05 Dec Mosaic secures over £300,000 to support its mentoring programme
Mosaic, an initiative of the Prince’s Trust, has secured £302,595 worth of investment fromThe Careers & Enterprise company to support its work with young people across the UK.
The investment will help Mosaic scale up its employer mentoring programme which works with students in some of the UK’s most deprived areas who are in danger of dropping out of school.
In total, the government-backed Careers & Enterprise Company will distribute funding worth more than £3.5million to 39 mentoring organisations across the country, targeting almost 20,000 pupils.
Sally Andreou, Head of Operations at Mosaic, said: “This investment is great news and a fabulous endorsement of the effectiveness of our mentoring programmes. We believe that every young person has the potential for success and by linking some of the most vulnerable with inspirational role models we aim to boost their confidence, self-efficacy and long-term employability.
Claudia Harris, CEO of The Careers & Enterprise Company, said: “Too many young people across England are at risk of not achieving their full potential. This can have a lasting impact on their future and career later in life.
“Employer mentoring is a powerful way to address this issue by helping young people get inspired about the world of work. Our fund will work to unlock this inspiration by scaling up proven mentoring programmes to help boost social mobility and give young people great life changing experiences.
“I would encourage anyone who wants to get involved in mentoring to step forward and join this mentoring movement and make a real difference to the lives of young people in their local community.”
The funding will help establish Mosaic’s mentoring programmes in The Black Country, Greater Birmingham and Solihull, Stoke and Staffordshire, Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield and The Humber.
