11 May Hyundai to launch ‘Contactless Car’ that can receive donations and thank you as well
Hyundai Motor UK is set to launch a fundraising initiative in support of the campaign ‘Stand up to Cancer’. The brand has converted a IONIQ electric car into a ‘Contactless Car’ providing people a seamless way to donate to the charity. The car will have five embedded contactless payment points where people can ‘TAP TO GIVE’ GBP 5 or GBP 10 to the Stand up to Cancer charity. The unique car will acknowledge every donation through a audio, visual or electronic gesture.
The zero-emission one-of-a-kind electric car will allow people to donate through their debit or credit cards. The donations will be used to fund ‘translational research’ – to turn breakthroughs in the lab into treatments for cancer.
Every time someone donates 5 or 10 pounds, the car will thank them using audio or visual gestures. The licence plate on the car will double as a digital totaliser that increases with every donation.
The Contactless Car is a follow up on the successful trial carried out by Cancer Research UK as part of the 2016 Stand up to Cancer campaign, which involved cash bucket collectors equipped with tech that allowed them to take contactless payments. The trial generated a very positive feedback, with over 25% donations gathered from contactless points.
